Odds- this is the probability that a certain result will happen. In sports gambling, the odds are important factor in deciding about bets. Like in other gambling games such as poker, in sports gambling, the odds should be studied and analyzed well by the gamblers first before placing their bets.
One dollar - if a five hundred dollar bet is called a nickel in sports gambling, here, a hundred dollar worth of bet is known as one dollar.
Over - there are different things in a sporting event that gamblers can bet on. One of them is whether the total points of the two sides joined together will be more than a specific number. In sports gambling, this is known as over.
Pick 'em - this is a situation in which there is no obvious underdog in a sporting event. This makes it harder for the sports gambling players to decide where they should place their bets. The sides here have almost equal chances of winning.
Power Ratings- in sports gambling, this is how much stronger one side is compared to another. It is important to determine which is side is more likely to win to be able to make a decision on which side you will bet.
Press - this is done by a sports gambling player if he places a bet which is more than the amount he bets usually. This he does if he is chasing his losses or if he has come to believe that he is likely to win. Sometimes this leads to bankruptcy.
Puppy - this is another term for the dog and the underdog. It pertains to a side which is expected to lose, whether because it is weaker compared to its opponent, or it is on a losing streak. Sometimes sports gambling players prefer to place their bets on the underdogs in hopes of getting a higher price. If a puppy wins, it is considered to be a bad beat since it was not expected to win over the opponent.
